


The collaborative model with Springfield College was so successful for both the center’s participants and the students that in 2018, ServiceNet partnered with UMass Amherst’s School of Public Health & Health Sciences to do similar work involving communications disorders master’s students with a track in speech pathology. Students in the Springfield College physical therapy program spend every semester for two years working at the center as part of an integrated learning model, with their clinical instructors also serving as Enrichment Center staff.

Together, they developed an innovative model of community-based care that would bring in physical therapy students to work with clients under the direction of their instructors. According to a ServiceNet press release, Enrichment Center Director Ellen Werner reached out to leaders of the physical therapy program at Springfield College to propose a collaboration. Their collaboration began in 2014 through ServiceNet’s Enrichment Center in Chicopee, a day program for adults with brain injuries caused by trauma or medical conditions. Five League of Women Voters chapters across the state will co-host a forum on Questions 2 and 3, concerning the regulation of dental insurance and expanded availability of licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages, respectively. The League of Women Voters of Boston is the lead organizer for a forum on Question 1, which would impose an additional 4% income tax on taxpayers’ earnings of more than $1 million annually.
